Annuar Musa claims Tok Pa among several Umno members questioned by police

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Annuar Musa (pic) has claimed that former International Trade and Industry minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed was investigated by the authorities over some funds he had allegedly received on behalf of Kelantan Umno.

The Umno secretary-general said this during a press conference at the party headquarters here on Thursday (Sept 20).

Annuar said Mustapa was among several Kelantan Umno officials who were questioned by the police.

"Tok Pa received a substantial amount of funds and was questioned by PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police)," he claimed.

Annuar was asked to confirm rumours that the Jeli MP had resigned from Umno after being investigated by the authorities.

"That (the investigation), I can confirm.

"There were many other people who were interrogated too, but they never left the party," he said.

Mustapa quit Umno on Tuesday (Sept 18), saying that the party's current direction was no longer in line with his political principles.

He said there was hardly any convincing effort to rejuvenate the party and felt that, based on the latest developments, it was getting difficult to salvage the diminishing trust deficit and Umno’s image.
