Sabah to continue pursuit of 20% oil royalty, but 'as a family' and 'team'

U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures settled down 47 cents at $68.49 a barrel. Brent crude futures settled at $73.21 per barrel, down 24 cents from their last close.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will continue pursuing the 20% oil royalty promised by Pakatan Harapan in its manifesto, but will do so "as a family" and not through confrontation, said state Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

Shafie also said he will be reserving his comments on Sarawak Pakatan's announcement on Monday (July 30) that the federal government's promise of 20% royalty to oil-producing states will be in addition to the existing 5%.
