Amanah's Suhaizan Kaiat is the new Johor Speaker

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) organising secretary Suhaizan Kaiat (pic) has been appointed as the new Johor state Speaker.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian proposed Suhaizan for the post and state Religious Affairs and Education committee chairman Aminolhuda Hassan seconded the proposal.

The 45-year-old Suhaizan was a PAS member until 2015, holding state and national PAS Youth posts until he left the party to join Amanah.

He has a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) where he worked as a tutor and lecturer for four years.

Pakatan won the mandate to form the Johor state government after seizing 36 state seats in GE14, while Barisan won 19 seats and PAS won one seat.

However, three assemblymen from Barisan left Umno on May 12 and have since become independent assemblymen.

They are Sedili assemblyman Rosleli Jahari, Endau assemblyman Rasman Ithnain and Johor Lama assemblyman Alwiyah Talib.
