KAJANG: A newborn baby boy survived after he was flung from the second floor of a building at Jalan Hentian 4, Hentian Bas Kajang here, but is in critical condition.

It was learned that the baby was discovered by the owner of a nearby restaurant at about 5pm on Sunday (June 24).

Kajang deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Sabri Abdullah said the restaurant owner heard a loud bang and checked to discover that the baby was lying in the middle of the road.

“He quickly wrapped the baby with a cloth and brought him to a nearby clinic.

“The baby was then transferred to Kajang Hospital. He is in critical condition,” Supt Mohd Sabri said when contacted Monday (June 25).

The police have detained a foreign woman at about 11.30pm the same day.

“We are investigating the case under Section 317 of the Penal Code for abandoning a child below the age of 12.

“The woman has been remanded until next Monday (July 1),” he said.
