PUTRAJAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the Jalan Masjid India Ramadan bazaar fiasco.

The Muar MP urged the anti-graft body to investigate Bukit Bintang Pribumi Youth chief Mohd Noorhisyam Abdul Karim over allegations that he abused his power by overcharging traders.

"As the leader of Armada (Pribumi Youth), I do not tolerate any form of corruption, even if it is committed by fellow party members. Also, as an MP, it is my responsibility to ensure that abuse of power must be eradicated so that we can heal our beloved Malaysia.

"I want the authorities - both the police and the MACC - to investigate this case all the way to the source," said Syed Saddiq outside the MACC headquarters here on Monday (June 18).

Syed Saddiq came to the headquarters by himself at 5pm to lodge the report.

He said the party must also take strict action against the perpetrator if he is proven guilty.

Mohd Noorhisyam is accused of collecting RM5,000 from bazaar traders in Jalan Masjid India, after allegedly misusing his position to secure bazaar lots from Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

Pribumi supreme council member Dr Muhammad Faiz Na'aman lodged a police report on June 14 on the matter.
