What else does MCA want, asks Umno Tajuddin

KUALA LUMPUR: Right after de-facto Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had urged Umno and MCA to put an end towards their public spat, Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has reignited the fire by posing a controversial question - What else does MCA want?

He claimed that MCA "did not do any work."

"It was Wanita Umno that did the ground work from day to night,” he said during a press conference at the Putra World Trade Centre on Sunday (June 3).

Tajuddin subsequently trained his guns towards MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, saying that it was unfair for the Ayer Hitam MP to solely blame Umno for Barisan’s shocking defeat in GE14.

“Where are Umno’s faults? Umno tak ada salah, MCA yang salah (Umno is not wrong, MCA is in the wrong,” he added.

Tajuddin pointed out that Umno had assisted MCA in its election campaign and had provided financial aid in its programmes prior to the 14th General Election.

Tajuddin said MCA couldn’t convince Chinese voters to support Barisan because the Chinese community had already made up their minds.

He claimed that the Chinese community is bent on forming a Chinese government.

“Believe me, this is where DAP is heading, they want to have control,” he said.

Tajuddin subsequently slammed Umno rebels who joined forces with Pakatan, labelling them as “traitors to Umno".

The verbal spat between Umno and MCA started after Dr Wee said that the party, bound by the Barisan spirit, seldom spoke openly on what transpired in the Cabinet meetings.

This unfortunately, was perceived by some parties that MCA had not been able to speak up for them or do anything for them.

Umno Information Chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa then responded, saying it was time for Umno to stop “carrying” its “paralysed Barisan partner and save itself from further defeat."
