Quoting sources, the daily said Ma was expected to discuss the Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ) project with Dr Mahathir.

Sources said “several groups” had called on Ma to visit Malaysia.

DFTZ, which was launched by the previous administration, is an e-hub set up by the Alibaba Group and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation.

Ma was in Malaysia last November to attend the ground-breaking of DFTZ with former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

> Sin Chew Daily reported Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen as saying that the results of Malaysia’s recent general election would not only change the country’s future but that of South-East Asia.

Besides closely following the development in the region, Taiwan, said Tsai, should focus on how to strengthen ties with the bloc.

> The daily also reported that a restaurant in Shanghai, China, had introduced a new service – “crayfish-peeling”.

With an extra 15% in service charge, customers could enjoy the seafood delicacy without have to peel the crayfish themselves.

While the Chinese crayfish is extremely popular among the Chinese nationals, many do not like the tedious process of peeling off the shells.

The restaurant manager said many young customers preferred to play games on their smartphones while dining.

“But peeling crayfish is troublesome and will dirty their hands. So, we thought of providing such a service to our customers,” he said.

The 15% service charge, he said, would be paid in full to the service providers.

One of the service providers, college student He Nan Xin, said she could earn more than 10,000 yuan (RM6,235) if she worked hard.
