Maria Chin consoles voters who mistakenly dropped ballots in wrong boxes

PETALING JAYA: Several early voters dropped their ballots into the wrong boxes and this caused a bit of commotion in SK Tropicana, in Jalan Tropicana Selatan here.

Several voters at a stream in P106 Damansara were mistaken between the state and parliament seats and dropped their ballots into the wrong boxes.

However, they were consoled by Petaling Jaya Pakatan Harapan parliamentary candidate Maria Chin Abdullah, 62, who later visited the centre to vote.

She told them that when the voting process closed, the authorities will separate the ballots accordingly.

Maria said she has voted twice before in SK Tropicana but the queue was triple the length this time.

She arrived at 11.30am but plans to return at 3pm to vote due to the heavy crowd and long queue.

“I went to SJKC Chung Hwa in Damansara and I was told that only 50 people managed to vote in one stream within two hours.

“We are not going to finish voting if we go on like this,

“I hope people will wait and vote," said Maria.

Her three sons - Azmin Mohd Yunus, 25, Aziman Maria Mohd Yunus, 24, and Azemi Maria Mohd Yunus, 22, - are first-time voters and stayed on to vote in the same school.
