GEORGE TOWN: Ayer Itam assemblyman Wong Hon Wai (pic) has been fielded as the DAP candidate for the Bukit Bendera parliamentary seat.
Announcing this at press conference Thursday (April 19), state DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow said Wong will be replacing incumbent Zairil Khir Johari who will be contesting in the Tanjung Bungah state seat.
Zairil is replacing Teh Yee Cheu who quit the party on April 7, the day of Parliament's dissolution.
Chow also announced that DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, 58, will defend his Air Putih state seat.
Lim has been helming the Air Putih seat since 2008.
He also announced that Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillor Chris Lee, 36, will contest in the Pulau Tikus state seat.
Lee is replacing incumbent Yap Soo Huey who recently said would be leaving for the United States to study urban and transport planning at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
The announcements were made at the Tanjung Bungah Service Centre in Tanjong Tokong.
