GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng questioned the media about how they knew one of his exco members was called in by anti-graft investigators for questioning over the Penang undersea tunnel project.
Speaking to reporters in his press conference yesterday, Guan Eng claimed the press was anonymously tipped off when state Public Works Committee chairman Lim Hock Seng had his statement taken by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“How come you press know about the questioning?” Guan Eng asked when quizzed by a reporter if he was aware one of his exco members was being questioned.
Journalists keeping an eye on the Penang undersea tunnel investigations were tipped off that Hock Seng was at the Penang MACC headquarters at 9am yesterday.
Guan Eng revealed that he might be next.
“I know when I say this, they want to take action against me, I’ll wait.
“Everything was done above board in the tender exercise and MACC has been investigating since 2016, and still cannot finish,” he said.
Guan Eng also said he had written to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak about the undersea tunnel accompanied with the photo of Najib witnessing the signing of the memorandum of understanding in 2011.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy revealed that it is his turn today to present himself at the MACC office to have his statements recorded.
Dr Ramasamy said two MACC officials visited his office on Monday and took his calendar, which had his schedule from 2012 to 2014.
“I told them I can come in at 9am on Wednesday,” said Ramasamy.
