Police hunting down man who molested girl at funfair

SUNGAI PETANI: Police have begun investigating the case of a man captured on video molesting a young girl at a funfair here.

Kuala Muda police chief Asst Comm Saifi Abdul Hamid said the mother of the seven-year-old victim had lodged a police report at 2.52am on Monday over the incident.

"Based on initial investigations, the incident is believed to have occurred at a funfair here between 11pm on Saturday (Jan 20) to 1am on Sunday (Jan 21).

"Police are tracking down the suspect and investigating the case under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017," said ACP Saifi.

In the video, uploaded on the Durian Media Facebook page, the child is seen seated on the lap of the man, while he repeatedly kisses her on her cheeks.

The man is also seen fondling the chest of the child beneath her red dress while loud music plays in the background.

The child's face is not censored in the video.

The post claims that the incident took place at a funfair in Taman Ria, Sg Petani at 11.30pm on Saturday (Jan 20).
