PKR members cause stir at Pakatan Harapan convention

SHAH ALAM: Some PKR members are unhappy over speculation that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would be named the prime minister candidate for the Opposition if Pakatan Harapan were to win the 14th general election.

The group, dubbing itself “Reformis 98”, caused a stir at the hallway of Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) here during the Pakatan convention Sunday.

Holding a cut-out of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, they demanded entry into the hall as delegates, but were stopped by security.

This caused a temporary congestion at the entrance as the group and convention organiser engaged in a verbal exchange.

Reformis 98 members then marched out, chanting “Reformasi” and “Bebas Anwar” (free Anwar).

Earlier Sunday, the group held a banner declaring Anwar and PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as its choice for prime minister and deputy prime minister candidates.

A minor scuffle then ensued when an unidentified Amanah delegate approached the group, telling them not to make any provocation.
