KUALA LUMPUR: Songstress Shila Amzah got engaged to Haris Idraki Elias in an intimate ceremony at her home in Cheras on Friday (Nov 3) evening.   

According to Shila's father, singer ND Lala, 28-year-old Haris is a family friend. 

"He asked for my blessing to marry Shila a few months ago. I approved because he's very down-to-earth and our families have known each other for a long time," he said.

Haris previously worked at The Star as a reporter in 2015. He currently works in the financial sector in London.



Shila, 27, made waves in the international Chinese entertainment scene when she won the Asian Wave reality singing competition in Shanghai, China in 2012.

Since then, she has received numerous accolades and widespread popularity as a Malay Mandopop star.

Her debut Mandopop album "My Journey", released in 2016, includes hit singles like "See You Or Never" and "Goodbye".
