KUALA LUMPUR: Rural development should not be restricted to just the physical aspects of development, delegates were told at the 10th Asean Ministers Meeting on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication (AMRDPE).

Using Malaysia’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) as an example, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the RTP, launched in 2015, gave equal emphasis to infrastructure and human capital.
