Malaysia to work with chemical weapons agencies

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will work with international agencies, including the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), to bring all those involved in Kim Jong-nam’s assassination to justice.

Its Permanent Representative to the OPCW, Datuk Ahmad Nazri Yusof, said the Government was committed to resolving and finding closure to the incident.

“The Government will fully cooperate with the OPCW and other international organisations to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“However, due to the complexity and sensitivity of the case, the investigation may take longer than what we hope for,” he said in a statement.

The statement was issued at the OPCW’s executive council session on Tuesday during the ongoing meeting of the OPCW executive council.

Ahmad Nazri reiterated Malaysia’s strong condemnation of the use of VX nerve agent in the murder, adding that its use in a public place endangered others.
