PETALING JAYA: A six-year-old boy drowned in the sea off Bachok while rescuers continued the search for two youths swept away by strong waves at Pantai Tok Bali in two separate incidents in Kelantan.

The body of Nik Abd Aziz Al-Fathoni Abdul Halim was found at Pantai Irama at 7.15am yesterday, about three kilometres from where he was believed to have drowned.

The boy is believed to have been swept away by strong currents after he fell off a wave breaker wall on the beach at 6pm on Saturday.

In the second incident, two teenage boys are feared to have drowned while swimming with two friends in Pantai Tok Bali in Pasir Puteh on Sunday.

The two were identified as Azim Anizam, 14, and Amir Azfa Rafar, 13, both from Selising.

Muhammad Firdaus Mustafa, 16, who is a friend of the two victims, said they had gone to the beach at 4pm.

“After 15 minutes in the water, my two friends got into difficulties and were swept away by the strong current.

“I tried to save one of them, but the current was too strong,” he said.

In Malacca, a man drowned after he fell into Sungai Chohong on Sunday while catching fish near Kampung Solok Komong, Asahan, in Jasin.

Fire and Rescue Department personnel found 33-year-old Nor Azman Abd Karim’s body in the area at about 7pm yesterday after an hour’s search. — Bernama
