SUNGAI PETANI: Five Thai women were arrested by the Kedah Immigration Department for illegally working as masseuses at a reflexo- logy centre in Taman Pekan Baru here.

Its enforcement chief senior deputy director Mohd Shahrir Khalil said the arrests were made during an operation codenamed Ops Ikrar which started at about midnight yesterday.

“The team checked the foot reflexology centre and found the women, aged between 34 and 50, working in the premises while here as tourists.

“They tried to escape but were arrested,” he said yesterday, adding that the centre was also offering body massage services.

Mohd Shahrir said the women would be transferred to the Belantik Immigration Detention Depot in Sik pending investigations.
