PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional’s resounding win in Sarawak is proof that the people in the state have rejected Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s campaign to unseat the Prime Minister, said Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
The Barisan strategic communications director said the win came despite all the lies and slanderous media coverage organised by the former prime minister’s proxies for nearly two years. “The results also prove his allegation that the Prime Minister must be removed or Barisan would lose elections is just another lie.
“The result is a crushing defeat for Dr Mahathir,” he said yesterday.
Abdul Rahman, who is Housing, Local Government and Urban Wellbeing Minister, said the people could now see that Dr Mahathir’s motivation in trying to unseat the Prime Minister was not for national interest but a selfish attempt to pave the way for his own son.
“Dr Mahathir would serve his country and legacy better by accepting that he has failed and retiring quietly,” he added.
Abdul Rahman said Sarawakians had again approved Barisan’s policies and gave their support under the state leadership of Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
