ALOR SETAR: The State Assembly Speaker has not received any motion of no confidence against Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir for the coming sitting in March.
Datuk Md Rozai Shafian said he had not received such a motion from any of the 36 assemblymen, including the 21 from Barisan Nasional.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the state investiture ceremony at Istana Anak Bukit here yesterday, he said the sitting would proceed as scheduled in March.
He also said he had no knowledge about the statutory declaration reportedly signed by the majority of Barisan Nasional assemblymen in support of the alleged removal of Mukhriz as mentri besar.
It was previously reported that except for Mukhriz and Jitra assemblyman Datuk Aminuddin Omar, 19 other Barisan assemblymen were said to have signed the statutory declaration.
Md Rozai, who is not an assemblyman, urged the people to remain calm, adding that everything would be resolved in an amicable manner.
Except for Belantek assemblyman Datuk Mohd Tajudin Abdullah, the remaining nine state exco members were at the ceremony yesterday.
It was business as usual for Mukhriz who looked relaxed while walking into the palace hall with his wife Datin Seri Norzieta Zakaria.
He had, on Wednesday, reportedly cancelled the weekly state executive council meeting when only three exco members turned up.
