KLANG: Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali is seeking legal advice on whether his teenage son should go to the police station Monday to record a statement over the Bersih 4 rally or sit for his exams.

''The police should be more civil in this matter because the boy is having his final exams tomorrow until Friday.

''I have spoken to my lawyer and I will wait until they give me the advice later," he said when met at a Deepavali celebration at Jalan Tengku Kelana here Sunday.

Azmin said he received a notice at his official residence on Saturday asking his son to be present at the Dang Wangi station at 10am on Monday when Mohamed Basheer Noor Al Haq, 15, also has his final exam.

"I was shocked. Such a young boy and he is under tremendous harassment.

"My lawyers have informed the police that he is sitting for his exams tomorrow and they said they would not compromise.

"He must appear at the IPD Dang Wangi at 10am tomorrow,'' Azmin said.

Azmin was also perplexed with how the notice was served, as it was not sent to his home in Ampang, where he and his family live.

"I was told by the security at my official residence that the police came and served the notice but not to my son or me.''

Azmin said he had no idea why Basheer, his youngest son, was targeted.

''It was a peaceful assembly, a family outing.

"Everyone brought children, we had a good time together and we went home after that,'' he said, adding that he was at the rally with his wife and all six children.

Asked how his son was feeling now, Azmin said the boy was prepared to face the police," he said.

Asked if the police should insist on Basheer going to Dang Wangi, Azmin said: "He should attend his final exams tomorrow. The statements can be recorded later."
