PETALING JAYA: Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kita) secretary general Azmi Othman has lodged a police report over attempts to hijack the party.

Azmi alleged that a non-member of the party had claimed to be Kita's new party president.

“I know something was amiss when claims are being made that Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) is aiming to take over Kita.

“But none of those proposing to take over the party had ever contacted our chief Masrum Dayat or me,” he said.

Azmi said he was shocked to find that thea non-member had submitted minutes of meetings to the Registrar of Society claiming that he was the new chief as Masrum could not be located.

“Initially, the party was operating from the office of former party chief Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

“But Masrum was recently denied entry into the office as he was no longer a staff of Zaid.

“We were not allowed to retrieve our party documents,” he said adding that Masrum was now using his house as Kita's temporary office.

Azmi said he had carried out a search at ROS to ascertain their status.

“And we found that we are still the office bearers of the party and that the non member had submitted false meeting minutes,” he said.

Azmi said he had to lodge police report as he did not want irresponsible parties taking advantage of the party.

GHB leaders, comprising those who lost in the recent PAS elections, had been reported as mulling over the possibility of taking over Kita.

ROS officials confirmed that GHB did not submit any application to form a new party.

GHB secretary Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said they would be announcing the formation of the new party on Monday.
