KUALA LUMPUR: Football-playing nations should concentrate on youth development to ensure success, says former Germany international Lothar Matthaus.

When asked what countries like Malaysia should do to get to biggest stages of international football, the 1990 World Cup winner said starting early was the key to long-term success.
