Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast in eight states until 5pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds affecting eight states until 5pm on Wednesday (May 13).

In a statement on Wednesday, MetMalaysia said the adverse weather conditions are expected in Perlis, Kedah (Langkawi) and Perak, involving Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim.

Similar conditions are also forecast in Pahang, specifically Cameron Highlands and Bentong, as well as Hulu Selangor in Selangor.

In Johor, the affected areas are Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru.

Meanwhile, in Sabah, the warning covers the Interior areas of Keningau and Tambunan, the West Coast, Tawau, Kinabatangan in Sandakan, and Kudat.

In Sarawak, the warning has been issued for Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Song and Kapit in Kapit division, as well as Tatau in Bintulu division. – Bernama
