Day's jail, RM20,000 fine for cop over RM4,000 bribe

IPOH: A police constable has to spend a day in jail for asking a RM4,000 bribe for not taking action against three Myanmar nationals.

Mohd Azrol Azreen Abu Hasan, 27, was charged with asking for the money from a middleman on Aug 31 last year.

He was also accused of accepting the money from the same person at 2.40pm on the same day.

He pleaded guilty to both charges before Sessions judge Rihaida Rafie on Monday.

Judge Rihaida sentenced him to a day's jail and RM20,000 fine, in default 12 months.

Deputy public prosecutor Afifah Yusof appeared for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
