KUALA LUMPUR: Nur Firuza Amira, who lost her parents and her sister in a tragic accident on DUKE Expressway recently, finally had a reason to smile.
Singing sensation Datuk Siti Nurhaliza visited the seven-year-old at her house, fulfilling her wish.
In a video that went viral on social media on Monday, Amira said she would like to meet the singer.
Yesterday, Siti and her husband Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa paid a visit to Amira and her three-year-old sister Nur Firuza Akila at their house in Taman Batu Muda, Batu Caves.
Siti later told journalists that she fought back tears when meeting Amira and Akila, who were happy to see her.
Siti said she wanted to appear strong for the sisters, especially after the ordeal they had gone through.
“I pray that they will be strong enough to face the coming days,” said Siti after spending close to one hour with Amira, Akila and their relatives.
“My husband and I will help the sisters in terms of their education,” she added.
Siti and her husband also brought some clothes and toys for the girls.
Meanwhile, Amira and Akila’s uncle Muhammad Faizznur Asyraf Husain, 25, said he would now focus on the welfare of the two sisters.
He said Amira would get sad whenever she saw pictures of her parents or footage of the accident, while Akila had been quiet.
“Akila is a strong girl... she expresses her feelings through drawings of her family. She calls it the happy family,” he added.
Earlier, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim had also visited the sisters.
Rohani said that the ministry would place counsellors who were experts in dealing with children to help the two sisters.
