Landslide partially blocks Tapah-Cameron Highlands road

IPOH: A landslide triggered by continuous heavy rain has blocked part of Jalan Tapah-Cameron Highlands near Batu 25 (Jalan Pahang), about 7km from Ringlet, Cameron Highlands.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said they received a report at 3.12pm and personnel from the Tapah station were dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters arrived at 4.22pm and found that tree branches and rocks were blocking half the road but no casualties were reported.

He said the team, assisted by concessionaire Belati Wangsa, used chainsaws to cut and clear the tree debris, while an excavator was deployed to remove the soil and rocks.

"After checks confirmed there were no further hazards, the cleaning work was handed over to Belati Wangsa for further action," he said in a statement on Friday (July 17).

Sabarodzi said the situation was brought under control at 4.40pm and the operation ended at 5.10 pm. – Bernama
