Activist Adam Adli's father passes away

PETALING JAYA: Abdul Halim Abdul Hamid, the father of activist Adam Adli, died from injuries caused by a road accident on Friday at the age of 54.

"Ayah sudah menghembuskan nafas terakhir sebentar tadi. Al-fatihah (Father has just exhaled his last breath. Al-fatihah)," Adam tweeted at 7.31am via his @AdamAdli account.

Adam said in his Facebook post that his father fought for his life for 12 hours before breathing his last at 6.45am.

“On his behalf and my family, I seek forgiveness for any wrongs and flaws he had during his earthly journey. If he owes any debts, please contact me,” he added.

At about 4am on Monday, Abdul Halim was wheeled into the Intensive Care Unit at Hospital Seberang Jaya, where he underwent an operation after his condition had stabilised.

In a heartfelt post made earlier, Adam had begged his father to hang on: “Please Ayah. One last time, fight!”

The pensioner was a staunch supporter of his son’s activist efforts.

Adam thanked everyone for the help, good deeds, love and friendship that Abdul Halim enjoyed during his lifetime.

Abdul Halim’s body will be brought back to their family home at 1788, Permatang Bertam, Kepala Batas, which is located near Masjid Jamiul Badawi in Penang.

“InshaAllah we will try to have the burial after Friday prayers,” Adam added.
