KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has approved an additional allocation of RM2.8mil this year to repair basic infrastructure at 14 Islamic education institutions across Kedah.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the allocation was to ensure students could study in a more comfortable and safe environment.
"The government will continue to uphold the eminence of Islam by strengthening Islamic education institutions and fostering the study and understanding of hadith in society," he said in a Facebook post on Friday (Sept 25).
In the same post, Anwar also announced a RM250,000 allocation to implement hadith-related programmes.
He said both allocations would be coordinated by the Kedah Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister's Department.
"Hopefully, this effort will benefit the students and continue to cultivate a culture of knowledge in society," he added. – Bernama
