Adenan: I didn't accuse the big six of graft

KUCHING: Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem (pic) has clarified that he did not accuse the state's big six timber companies of corruption.

"I never said they were involved in corruption.

"What I said to them was, you monitor the activities of your contractors, subcontractors, camp managers and workers to see that they are not involved in timber smuggling or illegal felling," he told a press conference at the State Legislative Assembly on Tuesday morning.

Adenan said some social media reports had misrepresented what he said during the signing of a corporate integrity pledge by the companies on Monday.

The big six are KTS, Rimbunan Hijau, Samling, Shin Yang, Ta Ann and WTK.

On his warning not to mess with him, Adenan said it was meant for those engaged in illegal logging and timber smuggling as well as some enforcement officers involved in such activities.

"I said don't mess with me because we are serious about this," he added.
