PETALING JAYA: All Christian publications and materials seized from pastor Maklin Masiau will be returned to him at a function in Kota Kinabalu on Thursday, the office of Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said on Wednesday

"We are happy to announce that this office will be returning all Christian literature that was seized by the Customs Department at the KLIA2 on October 25," said a statement issued by Kurup's office.

The statement added that an estimated 130 books and three boxes containing 290 CDs of Christian music were seized from Maklin and would be returned to him at the function which is set to run from noon to 2pm on Thursday at the Magellan Sutera Harbour hotel in Kota Kinabalu

Among those invited to attend, aside from Maklin are Sidang Injil Borneo chairman Datuk Jerry Dusing, Christian Federation chairman Datuk Dr. Thomas Tsen and Sabah Council Churches treasurer Ravon Jensey Mojuin.

Meanwhile, a news portal reported that Kurup would be carrying the seized materials back to Sabah personally for the hand-over, quoting Kurup's political secretary Vincent Wong.

The report also quoted Home Ministry publications and Quranic text division head Hashimah Nik Jaafar who said that the items, which are currently at the Home Ministry's KLIA2 offices are ready for collection.

She added that the Ministry was waiting for them to be picked up, and that she was informed that Maklin and his church had asked Kurup for help with the cargo cost of shipping the items back to Sabah.

Hashimah said that the Ministry was not imposing any charge for collection of the items.
