PUTRAJAYA: Veteran singer Datuk DJ Dave has released a new single dedicated to the MH17 and MH370 flight victims.

Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, who launched the special single here on Wednesday, said DJ Dave's effort should be commended and emulated by other singers in the country.

"The single, which can be purchased as caller ringtones, is indeed a creative way to give fellow Malaysians the opportunity to show their support and extend their sympathies to the families of those involved in the MH17 and MH370 tragedies," he said.

The minister also said all proceeds from the sale of the single would go to the victims' next-of-kin.

DJ Dave, whose real name is Datuk Irwan Shah Abdullah, said he came up with the idea of composing the song for the victims after being so moved by the two aviation tragedies that struck the nation this year.

He said the lyrics were written by Habsah Hassan, and the music arrangement was done by Belle Fatah.
