SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is not ruling out the possibility of dissolving the state assembly as a means of resolving the current crisis.
He, however, said any decision on dissolving the state assembly, appointing a new mentri besar or resigning from his position could only be done after consulting with the Selangor Sultan.
"Dissolving the state assembly can be done but it must done after consulting with Tuanku," he told reporters at the state mosque during a Majlis Solat Hajat in conjunction with PKNS' 50th anniversary, Friday.
Asked if there were plans to dissolve the state assembly in November as claimed by sacked exco member Datuk Teng Chang Khim, Khalid said he had no knowledge of such a move.
On PKR vice president N. Surendran saying that party president Datuk Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had the majority support of 30 state assemblymen to be appointed mentri besar, Khalid said Surendran could write to the Sultan to explain.
"He (Surendran) can pursue his ideas by writing to the Sultan," Khalid said.
Citing Article 53 (6) of the Selangor State Constitution, Surendran had said that Khalid should step down following Dr Wan Azizah's claim to have backing of 30 out 56 Selangor assemblymen.
