Protesters continue to demand Rayer apology outside Penang state assembly

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Umno Youth members continue with their protest outside the state assembly on Thursday as about 20 policemen stood guard at the gates.

The sitation got heated when a member of Solidariti Anak Muda (SAMM), who was in a group following the state assembly sitting, came out and went to a nearby stall for food.

A commotion ensured as the SAMM member claimed that the protesters stepped on his shoes and snatched his helmet.

The incident saw several policemen moving in to calm the down situation. The chaos caused a traffic congestion along Lebuh Light.

Opposition leader Datuk Jahara Hamid and several Barisan Nasional assemblymen also came out and advised the group to leave the place.

The group had hoped to seek an apology from Seri Delima assemblyman R.S.N Rayer over his remarks he made on Umno on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, a group of members stormed into the asssembly hall demanding to see Rayer. Twelve people were detained and released on police bail.
