M-cycles and car destroyed in fire

KUALA LUMPUR: Twenty-one motorcycles and a Proton Iswara Aeroback were destroyed in a fire that swept through the parking area of Block E of the Intan Baiduri People’s Housing Project (PPR) near Batu Caves.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Zakaria Pagan said a distress call was received at around 6.30am yesterday, alerting police of the fire.

He said 25 fire-fighters from the Jinjang, Sentul and Hang Tuah stations arrived at the scene 20 minutes later to control the flames.

The fire was fully extinguished at around 8am.

ACP Zakaria said no one was hurt in the incident and that police are collaborating with the state fire and rescue department to investigate what had caused the blaze.

“We are in the midst of investigating the possible motives behind this act of arson,” he said.

The case is being investigated as mischief by fire under Section 435 of the Penal Code.
