JOHOR BARU: A commotion erupted after thousands of JDT fans pushed their way through the ticketing counters at a stadium here on Monday.
Policemen who were on standby at the Tan Sri Dato Hj Hassan Yunos stadium urged the crowd to be patient and queue up for their tickets for the much awaited JDT versus Pahang match.
However, FRU units had to be deployed to the scene around 11am to control the massive crowd.
Fans started making beelines as early as 1am at the stadium for the tickets. But due to the huge crowd and the hours of waiting, people started cutting lines.
Some fans even fainted as the crowd grew bigger. The ticketing area became congested while others were heard shouting at the police claiming that they had been queuing up for almost 10 hours.
The police repeatedly reminded the crowd to stay calm and remain in their respective lines. Fans were warned that actions would be taken on those who did not follow instructions.
Later around 11.30am, the crowd grew aggressive and screamed vulgarities when police announced that all tickets were sold out. They later dispersed.
