Star Radio Group opens all lines for messages


PETALING JAYA: All stations under the Star Radio Group have cancelled normal broadcasting in light of the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak that the Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 has plunged into the Southern Indian Ocean.

“All stations under the Star Radio Group have cancelled normal broadcast and all lines to stations will be opened 6am onwards to take messages from Malaysians in this time of sadness,” said a statement issued by the group of four stations – RED FM, SuriaFM, 988 and Capital FM.

The statement added that all stations will observe 30 seconds of silence during their 8am broadcast. 

“As a mark of respect, all stations under the Star Radio Group will also observe 30 seconds of silence during our broadcast at 8am, in remembrance of MH 370. Our prayers and thoughts are with the families and loved ones of everyone on board,” said the statement. 

MH370, which had been missing for the last 17 days disappeared from Malaysian radars at 2.15am on March 8 after taking off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport for Beijing at 1.30am. It carried 239 passengers and crew.
