RM500 for an abortion in Penang and Klang Valley

FOR a mere RM500, women who want to terminate their pregnancy can go for an illegal abortion in some maternity clinics in Penang and the Klang Valley, reported China Press.

Reporters from the daily who went undercover to clinics in Penang and Kuala Lumpur found that the fees for terminating a seven-week foetus is only between RM500 and RM600.

However, the fees will be higher if the pregnancy is more advanced.

The clinics charge about RM2,000 for women who are 18 weeks pregnant as the risk is higher.

In one of the clinics in Penang, an undercover reporter was reminded that it was illegal to go for an abortion and that she must not tell anyone about it except to her very close family members.

> Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported that a woman who was angry at her husband for refusing to leave a woman who had given birth to his baby stabbed the baby girl in Guangzhou on Sept 5.

She also stabbed the baby’s mother. Both mother and baby are being treated for their injuries.

The woman had earlier consented to her husband having sexual relations with the other woman with the intention of having a baby as she could not conceive, although they have been married for 10 years.
