Umno Supreme Council elections postponed to mid-Oct

PETALING JAYA: The Umno supreme council elections have been postponed from Oct 5 to Oct 19, while their candidate nomination date has been pushed from Sep 7 to Sep 28.

Nominations for the Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings were also postponed, from Sep 7 to Sep 21.

In a statement, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the date changes were made after requests from party members.

He added that as US President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping would be visiting the country in early October, preparations had to be made for their arrival.
