Foreigners nabbed for stealing car batteries, workshop items, say Kluang cops


KLUANG: Police have arrested three foreign men believed to have stolen vehicle batteries and workshop equipment.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the owner of a workshop, a 37-year-old local man, reported the incident, which occurred at Jalan Kampung Baharu at 11.57am on Thursday (Feb 5).

“Three Pakistani men aged between 22 and 35 were arrested at Jalan Sri Jaya 19, Taman Sri Jaya at 12.30am on Sunday.

“We also seized a car key, a van key, a car and a van,” he said in a statement.

He added that all three suspects have no prior criminal records and tested negative for drugs.

“Remand orders for the suspects were obtained for four days starting today.

“The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft in a building, storage place or place of safekeeping. If convicted, they could face up to 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine or both,” he said.
