INFORMATION, Communication and Culture Deputy Minister Datuk Maglin Dennis D'Cruz said the ministry will meet Astro next week to discuss the airing of local Tamil programmes, reported Makkal Osai.
D'Cruz said he would be meeting the head of Astro Tamil programmes Dr N.C. Rajamani on the possibility of increasing airtime for local Tamil dramas and films, which is currently lacking.
He was speaking to reporters after meeting the arts activists at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
He said Astro should allocate more airtime to locally produced dramas and Tamil films as this would encourage budding actors and producers to strive for quality productions.
> The 100-year-old Raja Muniswarar Temple management in Jalan Templer, Seremban, has not ruled out going to court if current talks with developer Billion Age Housing Development Company breaks down, reported Malaysia Nanban.
Temple chairman S. Anbuarasan said the temple committee had refused to accept the developer's RM100,000 and offer of an alternative site as it was too far from the current location.
He said DAP Lobak assemblyman Anthony Loke and DAP Senawang assemblymen P. Guna had offered to help until an amicable solution was found.
The state government had said it would not get involved as the proposed housing project is on private land.
