GEORGE TOWN: The frequency of padi planting will be increased to five times in two years in an effort to overcome food shortage in the country, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry secretary-general Datuk Hashim Abdullah said.
It would be done using a new padi variety which could withstand crop pests.
