Norwegian among four recipients of Merdeka Award

KUALA LUMPUR: Norwegian economist Tan Sri Just Faaland, 88, was awarded the 2010 Merdeka Award for his contribution in helping to move Malaysia’s post-independence economy.

He had worked closely with the Economic Planning Unit to formulate the New Economic Policy (NEP) and is currently a senior consultant with the Chr. Michelsen Institute Norway – an independent centre for research on international development and policy.
