KUALA LUMPUR: Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin, 51, pleaded guilty at the Gombak Timur Lower Syariah court here to committing polygamy without consent of the court.

His second wife, popular actress Zizie Izette A. Samad, 32, also pleaded guilty to another main charge of entering a marriage without the consent of a marriage registrar.

Bung Mokhtar and Zizie openly showed their affection for each other when in court yesterday.

Zizie, who sat behind Bung Mokhtar in the public gallery, was seen stroking his hair and addressing him as Yang (short for sayang).

Five other men, including Zizie’s three brothers, also pleaded guilty to abetting Bung Mokhtar.

The other two were Titing Putang and Sahari Ahmad who acted as witnesses for the groom during the marriage.

According to case facts, politician and businessman Bung Mokhtar, who has a monthly income of RM25,000, was married to Datin Nor Asidah Alimuddin on Aug 24, 1991.

He then married Zizie in a discreet ceremony at about 8.50pm on Dec 16 last year at Cemerlang Heights in Taman Melati here.

Zizie received RM80 as mas kahwin (dowry), RM31,000 in wang hantaran (cash gift) and a diamond ring.

Counsel Amli Embong represented the couple.

The actress’ elder brother Datuk Ahmad Shahazmi Abd Samad, who was her wali (guardian), also faced a separate charge of solemnising his sister’s marriage without the consent of a marriage registrar at the same court.

Her two other brothers, Samzy Fuzette Abd Samad and actor Shaheizy Sam Abd Samad, who recently starred in the Malay blockbuster Adnan Sempit, were charged with abetting Ahmad Shahazmi as witnesses in the solemnisation ceremony.

Syarie Judge Wan Mahyuddin Wan Muhammad set oral bail at RM500 for each person in one surety and ordered all parties to submit written pleas.

The court fixed May 18 for sentencing.
