Ruling on Anwar's appeal on dismissal from Cabinet posts at later date (Update)


PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court here reserved judgment on whether or not Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's dismissal from his Cabinet posts 11 years ago is constitutional. Court of Appeal President Tan Sri Alauddin Mohd Sheriff and Federal Court judges Datuk Wira Mohd Ghazali Mohd Yusof and Datuk Abdull Hamid Embong deferred their decision to a date to be fixed.

They were asked to determine two questions of law which revolve on the function and power of the King to appoint and dismiss a minister as provided under Article 43 (5) of the Federal Constitution.
