AN internal affairs unit should be set up within the police force to deal with problems of misconduct instead of having the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC), a backbencher said.
It would be better to monitor the police force from within, Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar (BN – Santubong) said, adding that the unit, which would be answerable to the Inspector-General of Police, could tackle issues relating to police responsibilities, discipline and public complaints.
