Black-eye suit settled

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim withdrew his suit against former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Mohd Noor and the Government after an apology was tendered and an undisclosed sum of money was agreed on in compensation. 

“I accept responsibility for the assault on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the night of Sept 20, 1998, at the Bukit Aman police lockup,” Rahim said in a letter read out by his lawyer Joseph Ting. “The pain and hurt caused to you and your family is deeply regretted and I sincerely apologise to you and your family.”
