ALOR STAR: Firemen have been battling the scorching heat and steep terrain to stop the spread of a forest fire in Lubok Merbau, 60km east of here.
To worsen the situation, there was no piped-water supply at Kampung Sungai Long, where the firemen had set up their base, as the 150 villagers relied on underground water for their daily needs.
