THE Education Ministry’s latest move empowering teachers to cane students has kicked up a debate in the Malay dailies.
Not only did Minister Tan Sri Musa Mohamad’s statement that the Government would back teachers if they were sued for caning students grabbed the headlines in both Berita Harian and Utusan Malaysia. The issue also dominated the dailies’ opinion and letter pages.
