DOVER: National marathon swimmer Abdul Malik Mydin's attempt to cross the English Channel is expected to again face delays due to inclement weather.Â
Heavy clouds, rain and strong winds were expected from West England heading east, causing swells as high as two to five metres in the English Channel, according to British Broadcasting Corporation forecasts at 9pm yesterday (4am Malaysian time).Â
The English Channel Challenge secretariat, which is managing Abdul Malik's attempt, was informed that although the rain would not last long, the bad weather would cause uncertain sea conditions. Â
Its co-ordinator Datuk Talaat Husain said the secretariat had been prepared for Abdul Malik's attempt on Friday morning and yesterday but the weather did not permit them to do so. – Bernama Â
