PENANG: Penguins are vital to the ecosystem of the Antarctic seas as their droppings provide nitrate-rich fertiliser for algae - the food of krills or shrimps.
This was among the findings of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Biological Sciences School dean Prof Dr Mashhor Mansor who returned on April 8 from a month-long expedition to the white continent via Argentina.
